MGO mono-fuel engine UEC-LSJ has been awarded “Marine Engineering of the Year (Dokou Memorial Award) 2019”
J-ENG's MGO mono-fuel engine UEC-LSJ, developed together with Onomichi Dockyard Co., Ltd., supported by The Nippon Foundation, has been awarded “Marine Engineering of the Year (Dokou Memorial Award) 2019,” a recognition of excellence in technology from The Japan Institute of Marine Engineering, a general incorporated association .
The UEC-LSJ is an engine that uses only MGO as fuel, and was developed not only to meet SOx emission regulations for ships, which applied since 2020, but also all environmental regulations, such as NOx and Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) regulations.
Additionally, the stratified water injection technology installed in the UEC-LSJ can potentially be applicable to the dual fuel combustion of liquid fuels such as biofuel, earning praise as an advanced technology that can contribute to realize a decarbonized society.
We will actively continue to research and develop alternative fuels as our goal to realize a sustainable society, with considerations for future prime mover in the shipping industry.
