J-ENG awarded two orders of UE Engines for next-generation coal carriers built by Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. for Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd.

Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG) has awarded the orders for UE Engines. 6UEC60LSE-Eco-A2-EGR, for (2) “Eenex” next-generation coal carriers, owned by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), built at Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.

UEC60LSE-Eco-A2 is highly reputed and adopted by many Owners with different type of vessels such as Coal Carriers, PCTC and Panamax Bulk Carriers, due to especially the superior features as low fuel oil consumption, high reliability and service activity. More, as a countermeasure technology for IMO NOx TierⅢ regulations, the “Low Pressure EGR System (LP-EGR)” J-ENG’s original development will be applied to these engines. J-ENG’s LP-EGR has economical advantage to reduce NOx amount drastically, minimizing the penalty to fuel oil consumption rate. LP-EGR realizes simple system of exhaust gas recirculation line and main component with taking advantage of treating low pressure and low temperature exhaust gas from turbocharger outlet, and makes a contribution to improve maintainability and reduces the operation cost.
