With the completion of the 6UEC42LSH-Eco-D3-EGR engine for Handy-size bulk carrier built by Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG), which has been developing the UE engines, has achieved cumulative production of 40 million horsepower. (Total production volume of 4,586 units).

The UE engine is a purely domestic manufactured, so called "Hinomaru", low-speed marine engine independently developed by J-ENG, the world's only global licensor with an "integrated system from development to design, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales service." Its history dates back to about three quarters of a century ago, when Japan was on the cusp of rapid economic growth and advocated becoming a shipbuilding and shipping nation. It all started with the completion of the first UE engine in 1955. Since then, for about 70 years, we have received the patronage and support of many Shipping Companies, Shipyards, and Business Partners, as well as partnerships with Licensees such as Akasaka Diesels Ltd. We would like to once again express our sincere gratitude for all the support for building up our history and production records while contributing to the safe and stable operation of vessels.

Currently, J-ENG continues to receive orders and manufacture 6UEC42LSH engines, which is an ultra-low fuel consumption engine, for Handy-sized bulk carriers built by domestic shipyards. Also, we have a large backlog of orders and promising business negotiations with the latest series UEC50LSH engine, including the MGO mono-fueled UEC35LSJ engine, etc., and are expected to continue operating at an extremely high level in the future. In addition, Chinese Licensees Guangzhou Diesel Engine Factory Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Yungpu Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. have also seen a surge in orders and have already started full-scale production. We dispatch technical advisors to provide technical guidance and we are supporting to maintain and improve the quality of engines manufactured by Chinese licensees by supplying main components which are made in Japan.

In addition, J-ENG is working on the development of Ammonia-fueled engine and Hydrogen-fueled engine, which will be the essentials for next-generation engines, with the support of the Green Innovation Fund Project toward the realization of carbon neutrality in 2050. We have also started investing in factory operating facilities for these new fuel engines. These are the core initiatives of J-ENG's ESG management in the future, and we will contribute to the de-carbonization of the shipping and shipbuilding industries by continuing to supply products with various next-generation environmental technologies.

J-ENG regards the achievement of 40 million horsepower in cumulative UE engine production as a milestone, and will further deepen cooperation with UE Business Partners and Licensees in domestic and overseas.
As "UE family", we will continue to provide products and services to satisfy customers and to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
